A new post-natal fitness class that gives mums on maternity leave the opportunity to socialise and keep fit, while eliminating the need for childcare, is coming to Beckenham in January.
Sweaty Mama is a pre- and post-natal fitness specialists franchise and will, lockdown permitting, be launching Beckenham classes for the first time in the new year. Sessions will be based at a range of venues including Dance Company Studios, Beckenham Place Park mansion and Venue 28, to name a few.
The Beckenham Sweaty Mama group is being run by Channon Charles who told News in Beckenham: “I want this to be an outlet to mums who are on maternity leave or just want to socialise more, that want to feel good about themselves as well as not having to look for childcare.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweaty Mama have initiated a range of safety measures so that mums can enjoy the classes whilst staying safe. This includes sanitiser stations at every venue, all activities to take place within the government’s social distance guidelines, a reduction in class sizes and the sanitisation of all equipment.
Sweaty Mama was founded in 2016 by Hannah McVerry. After the birth of her first two children, Lyra and Phoenix, just 16 months apart, Hannah suffered a large split of 9.5cm in her abdominals, known as a Diastasis Recti. No longer able to enjoy the high energy exercises which she had always loved, she qualified as a Personal Trainer specialising in pre- and post-natal exercise & Sweaty Mama was born.
