Bromley achieved its highest ever level (86 per cent) of first preference offers for primary school places this year – up from last year’s figure of 84.6 per cent.
In 2018, more than 98 per cent of Bromley children applying for a primary school place received an offer in one of their chosen schools, ahead of the London average. Of these, 96 per cent gained a place at one of their top three choices.
Demand for places remains high with 3,845 on-time applications for places this year. Bromley is also continuing to experience an increase of around 245 more children applying for primary places since 2011.
A Bromley Council spokesperson said: “It is really good news that Bromley has achieved its highest ever level of first preferences at 86 per cent, coupled with the lowest ever number of directional offers at just 1.5 per cent.
“This means that by far the vast majority of Bromley children starting school in September will be heading off to one of their choices. Demand for primary school places is still high, which means this is all the more remarkable.
“No doubt our young children will be excited about heading off to their new school and we wish them every success in their all-important future education.”
