Local charities and community groups that are working to reduce loneliness have until 5pm today (January 26) to apply for a new grant.
The grants are part of a new £4 million fund to help build connections across communities. The Local Connections Fund is backed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the National Lottery Community Fund, who are both investing £2 million each.
The money will be distributed as microgrants between £300 – £2,500 to organisations with annual income of £50,000 or less and the deadline for the first round of funding is 5pm on 26 January for projects running up to 31 March 2021.
Organisations can still apply, even if they already have existing grants with the National Lottery Community Fund. But they cannot apply for costs which have been funded by other means, including government or National Lottery funding.
The second round of funding will be provided by The National Lottery Community Fund and will launch in the summer of 2021. Those who received funding in the first round will not be eligible for funding in the second round.
