Manor Road is expected to reopen tomorrow according to Thames Water, a week after a burst water pipe caused dangerous driving conditions.
A Thames Water spokesperson told News in Beckenham: “The leak in Manor Road was repaired on Friday and we’ve been filling in the hole and replacing the road surface today. We hope to reopen the road tomorrow weather permitting.”
The road was closed last week after water from the leak and the colder weather combined to create areas of black ice. Indeed Kelsey and Eden Park Police tweeted last Friday: “A very cold morning today with black ice on the road. Manor Road Beckenham is currently shut due to a water leak that has frozen over causing vehicles to skid. Please take care out there.”
