Detectives investigating an incident in which a young woman was allegedly raped after being forced into a van on Copers Cope Road have arrested a 32-year-old man.
The man was arrested on Wednesday, January 30 on suspicion of rape and taken to a north London police station. He has since been released under investigation.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 4.30am on Wednesday, January 23 to reports of a sexual assault on Copers Cope Road in Beckenham.
Officers attended and spoke to a woman, aged in her late teens, who reported she had been raped.
She told officers that she had been walking along the road when she was approached by a man in a van who threatened her and forced her to get into the vehicle. She was then raped before the suspect drove away.
The woman continues to be supported by specialist officers.
Detectives from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating and enquiries are currently ongoing.
